What we do

With seed money and training, Digno partners with indigenous communities in Central America in the following ways:

Create a political voice

by developing community organizing skills

Choose capable community representatives

Develop leadership skills

Improve collective decision making skills

Enlist the support of all segments of the community

Use technology efficiently

Hire administrative staff

Community representatives at a general assembly of indigenous peoples.

Use the court system to

demand justice for civil and human rights violations

Hire a team of experts

Organize peaceful demonstrations

Enlist support of allies (other NGOs, foreign governments, United Nations)

Negotiate with government officials

Bring legal cases before national courts 

Bring cases before international commissions and courts

Indigenous community organizes peaceful demonstration to demand that the government respond to their requests for basic services. 


Provide Education

for youth living in extreme poverty

Design and administer a scholarship program

Raise funds

Analyze results

Sixty middle and high school students, two-thirds girls, break the cycle of poverty through education and create new leaders.





Preserve culture and history

to protect and revitalize traditions and art forms

Hire experts to analyze the current state of cultural identity

Hire program staff

Involve community elders in recuperation of traditions

Involve the community in the need for this project
